working principle
In the dense medium cyclone, coal and gangue are affected by gravity and centrifugal force. When the particle density is greater than the suspension density, the direction of force applied is the same as that of centrifugal acceleration. The particles move apart in the medium of the cyclone and concentrate in the outer layer. Due to the interference of subsidence, the large gangue is close to the wall, followed by the gangue with medium and small particle size converges to form a spiral movement gangue belt. When the pulp reaches the cone part, the centrifugal force increases sharply and forms an obvious particle belt.
When the particle density is less than the suspension density, the particles move centripetally in the hydrocyclone and concentrate near the central axis of the hydrocyclone. When the coal slurry moves to the overflow pipe, the clean coal and medium coal are pressed to the overflow pipe, where the secondary separation occurs due to the eddy current at the bottom of the overflow pipe. The clean coal flow is discharged along the overflow pipe, and the middle coal and gangue will re swirl. The medium coal belt acts as a barrier between the light particles and the heavy particles, where the medium coal with low ash content can move to the underflow outlet and be discharged as tail coal. Or discharged along the overflow pipe with clean coal.
